Where the serial is
Switch the radio on, hold presets 1 and 6 down together for a few seconds, and the screen shows the serial: V or M then six digits. No serial on screen? It is printed on a label on the side or back of the radio. You'll need to pull the unit out for that one.

Is a Ford radio code free?
Yes, if you can wait a day. A V or M serial has the code built into it, so we work it out ourselves and email it 24 hours later for nothing. If you'd rather have it now, there's the instant service.
Is this a real Ford radio code generator?
Yes, for V, M, Z and A serials. The code is a calculation on the six digits, and our software does that calculation. It isn't a list of guesses. BP, C7 and TravelPilot serials need a person to look them up, which is why they take 24 hours.
Can the code come from the VIN?
No. Ford radio codes come from the radio, not the car, so the VIN and the registration number don't help. The radio might not even be the original unit fitted at the factory. The serial from the screen or the label is the only thing we need.
What does LOCKED mean on the display?
Too many wrong codes have gone in, so the radio has paused. Leave it switched on for about 30 minutes and the display changes back to CODE. LOCKED 13 means it has been fully locked and needs a specialist reset, so stop after the tenth try.
My serial starts with C7. What now?
Type it in as normal. C7 is a Visteon unit and we can't calculate those on the spot, so it goes to our decoding desk. The code arrives by email within 24 hours whether you pick free or with the instant service.
