Free Citroën radio code from the label precode
A Citroën radio code is worked out from the four-character precode on the radio label, a letter and three digits like F412. FreeCarRadioCodes decodes it free with a 24-hour wait, or immediately for $5.
Where the serial is
Take the radio out: two flat keys in the slots either side release most units, and RD4 radios come out once the trim is unclipped and the four screws are undone. On Philips and RD4 radios the label carries a short precode, a letter and three digits like F412, printed near the barcode. That's all we need. Blaupunkt BP and Continental A2C units carry a longer serial instead, so type the whole line.
What happens next
We check what you typed straight away. A precode is decoded on the spot, so choose free and the code is emailed 24 hours later, or pay $5 and it arrives in minutes. BP and A2C serials go to our decoding desk, so those take up to 24 hours either way, still free or $5. The email comes from [email protected] with the entry steps for your radio.
What we cover
| Radio | Code |
|---|---|
| Philips RD3 / RD4 precode | instant |
| RD45 precode | instant |
| Blaupunkt BP | 24 hours |
| Continental A2C | 24 hours |
How to enter the code
- 1Turn the ignition on and switch the radio on. The screen shows CODE, or SAFE on some units, with four dashes.
- 2Press preset 1 repeatedly until the first digit is right, then presets 2, 3 and 4 for the rest.
- 3Check all four digits. A wrong entry counts as a try and locks the radio for a while.
- 4Press and hold preset 6 until the radio plays. RD45 and newer units confirm with the OK button instead.
Citroën radio code questions
Is there a real Citroën radio code generator?
Yes, for Philips and RD4 units. The code is calculated from the precode, the letter and three digits on the label, and that's what we do free. Blaupunkt and Continental units need a person to look them up, so those take a day.
Is a Citroën radio code free?
Yes. Every Citroën serial we accept is free with a 24-hour wait. If you'd rather not wait, $5 sends the same code straight away.
My Citroën serial starts BP. What now?
That's a Blaupunkt unit. There's no precode on those, so type the whole BP line. It goes to our decoding desk and the code comes back within 24 hours, free or $5.
The radio says CODE but the buttons do nothing. Why?
It's probably in a lock-out wait after a wrong entry. Leave the ignition and the radio on and give it a while. When the four dashes come back, enter the code again, slowly, and check each digit before you hold 6.
Is the Citroën code the same as the Peugeot one for the same radio?
Yes. Citroën and Peugeot share the same Philips, RD4, Blaupunkt and Continental units, and the code comes from the label, not the badge on the bonnet. Pick either make and the result is the same.
