What a radio code generator actually is
When a radio maker designs a unit, they need a way to give every radio its own code. Some makers pick a random number and store it in a database. Others build a formula into the radio that turns the serial into the code.
A radio code generator is just that formula, run on a computer. Feed it the serial, it gives you the code. It isn't magic and it isn't hacking. It's the same sum the radio does when you type the code in.

Ford V and M series serials. Renault and Dacia precode radios, where the four-character code on the label becomes the four-digit code. Honda and Acura. Toyota radios with a 16-character ERC. Jaguar. Becker units, including the ones fitted to Mercedes and Land Rover. Mercedes Alpine units. Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia radios by Continental and Daiichi. Peugeot and Citroën precode radios. Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge radios with T00BE, TM9 and TVP serials.

Makes where no generator can exist
Nissan, Volkswagen and SEAT don't use a formula. The code was picked at random in the factory and written into a database. There's no maths that links the serial to the code, so there's nothing to generate.
The same is true for Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge radios in the T00AM and QN families. For all of these, the only route is the manufacturer's database. We buy those codes in and sell them at $5.
Why online generators for those makes are not real
If a page offers a free Nissan or VW radio code generator, ask yourself where the code would come from. There's no formula. The page can't have the database. So it can't have your code.
What those pages usually do is show a spinning wheel, then ask you to install something, complete a survey, or enter a card number to reveal the result. There is no result.
